Successful application to the Court in Strasburg

In today’s verdict by the Judicial Council in the case Vasilkoski and others against the Republic of Macedonia, with an application made and submitted by the Helsinki Committee (complaint No. 28169/08), the European Court for Human Rights on the public session has established violation to Article 5 paragraph 3 (right to freedom and safety) by the European Convention for Human Rights.

This case refers to a complaint made by 38 applicants, accused of abusing their official post while working on paying tolls and in terms of violation of the right to freedom and safety due to unsuitable and insufficiently elaborated reasons for detention of applicants.
