Strengthening the capacities of police officers to act in cases of hate speech

In the period June – July 2025, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights conducted seven one-day trainings for police officers and other employees of the Ministry of Interior, with the aim of strengthening their capacities to recognize, document and act in cases of hate speech.

The focus was on harmonization with European and international standards, proper application of the national legal framework, collection and analysis of material and electronic evidence, as well as improving intersectoral and international cooperation.
