Breach of workers’ rights identified at a shoe manufacturer in Kriva Palanka

The State Labour Inspectorate – Regional Unit KrivaPalanka identified irregularities and breach of several labour rights at DPTU LO-MA SHOES DOOEL KrivaPalanka. Following an initiative by the Helsinki Committee for additional supervision to be conducted, an authorized labour inspector visited the stated manufacturer and identified that the employer had failed to record the employees’ attendance electronically and to pay three employees their annual leave pay for 2016, as well as other irregularities in the field of safety and health at the workplace. State Labour Inspectorate – Regional Unit KrivaPalanka made decisions regarding all identified irregularities ordering the employer to correct them. So far, the employer has proceeded to act upon a decision and corrected the irregularities regarding safety and health at the workplace.

The Helsinki Committee welcomes the decisions of the State Labour Inspectorate – Regional Unit KrivaPalanka. At the same time we also welcome the correction of irregularities by the employer as ordered by one of the decisions made by the State Labour Inspectorate and we urge them to proceed to implement the two remaining decisions. The Helsinki Committee will continue to monitor this case in terms of whether the employee will proceed to correct all remaining identified irregularities.
