Overview of the Analysis of the workers’ rights standards and application thereof in the Republic of North Macedonia
The overview summarizes the most relevant findings from the Analysis of workers’ rights standards and application thereof in the Republic of North Macedonia and its aim is to stimulate the public to get familiar with the content of the analysis. The Analysis identifies and focuses on the main guidelines for developing national legislation on workers’ rights protection, the level of compliance of the legislation to the adopted international standards and the deviations in implementation and in practice, both, from the applicable laws and from the international standards.
The overview reviews the international system of protection, the existing protection mechanisms at national level and the existing problems in the legislation. In addition, the findings are complemented with data from the empirical research on the efficiency of the institutions. Interviews with representatives from the State Labour Inspectorate (SLI), the Trade Union of Industry, Energy and Mining (TUIEM) and the Macedonian Association for Safety at Work (MASW) are included as well.
